African Spirits: Banjooli bench by Moroso 

A garden bench in a class of its own: with Banjooli, Sebastian Herkner has contributed another highlight to Moroso's M' Afrique collection. The up-and-coming designer was inspired by the courtship dance of the African ostrich. The curved armrests and the variety of colours of Banjooli are reminiscent of the colourful behaviour of the exotic bird. 

Art director Patrizia Moroso's aim with M' Afrique is to capture the exotic cheerfulness of the African continent. Senegal is also home to the small factory founded specifically for this purpose, where each design is skilfully made by hand. The polyethylene mesh is based on the weaving technique of African fishing nets and is as unique as it is robust. The steel frame, which Moroso has weatherproofed, contributes significantly to the stability.

Moroso was founded in 1952 and since then has stood for high quality, unbridled ingenuity and colourful design furniture. The focus is on unique, unusual design, environmentally friendly production and the use of natural, recyclable materials wherever possible. Material and format 

The Banjooli bench is made of lacquered steel with PVC foot glides. The seat shell of the extraordinary 2-seater is hand-woven from coloured polyethylene threads, which makes each piece unique. 

The bench is 143 cm wide, 72 cm deep and 88 cm high. The seat height is 46 cm. 

Note: The M'Afrique collection by Moroso is traditionally produced by hand in Senegal, so deviations and minor defects are not grounds for complaint. These are intentional and are part of the craftsmanship and artisan character of the piece of furniture. Due to the production process in Senegal, the furniture is not always directly available in all variations and colours, as you are used to from European companies.
