Timeless elegance: B 20 b/1 coffee table by Thonet

Based on the classic tubular steel furniture of the Bauhaus era of the 1920s and 1930s, the B 20 coffee table presents itself as straight-lined and harmoniously proportioned. The shapely, puristic design piece fits harmoniously into any environment, also thanks to the many different versions - whether in the office, in waiting areas or at home in the living room. The B 20 b/1 version has an additional shelf and therefore offers even more storage space.

Thonet - over 200 years of tradition

The Frankenberg-based manufacturer stands for durability and the irrepressible drive for innovation. Thonet was the first manufacturer to bring bentwood furniture onto the market and the first to sell tubular steel furniture. Michael Thonet founded his own workshop in Boppard am Rhein in 1819. In the 1830s he experimented with strips of veneer boiled in glue and is therefore regarded as the inventor of "furniture made of bent wood". In 1842, he was invited to Vienna by the Austrian state chancellor Prince Metternich and the coffee house culture there laid the foundation for Thonet's later success. Given this desire for innovation, it is not surprising that Thonet also cultivated links with the Bauhaus and Marcel Breuer. Thus Thonet implemented Breuer's experiments with cold-bent tubular steel and produced the famous cantilever chairs.

Material and format

The B 20 b/1 coffee table is 120 cm wide, 80 cm deep and 36 cm high. The frame is made of chromed 20 x 2 mm round steel tube. The distance between the table tops is 14 cm.

For the table top, you can choose between top coat (wood structure visible) and stained surface and from many different colours. If you would like a smooth surface without wood grain, please indicate this in the comments field at the end of the ordering process.
