Winner: Atollo table lamp Murano glass by Oluce
in 1979, designer Vico Magistretti won the famous Compasso d'Oro award with the Atollo. And until today, the lamp has lost nothing of its prize-worthiness. It revolutionised the idea of a small bedside lamp like no other design lamp of its time. Geometric shapes form a design that is both decorative and modern. The lamp can truly be called an icon of Italian design.
Designer Vico Magistretti
Vico Magistretti was born in Milan in 1920 and immediately joined his father Piergiulio's company after studying architecture in 1945. In the post-war period, he was actively involved in the reconstruction as a co-founder of the MSA (Movement for Architectural Studies). He participated in exhibitions at the Milan Triennale with his designs and won the Granpremio there in 1954. He also received the Compasso d'Oro in 1967 for the Artemide Eclisse lamp and in 1979 for the Oluce Atollo lamp and the Cassina Maralunga sofa. Magistretti died on 19 September 2016.
Oluce - Italian luminaire design
The Italian company Oluce was already founded in 1945 and is the oldest Italian design company in the lighting industry that still produces today. Many of the luminaires have risen to become icons that have been trendy for generations. Their design quality makes them real perennial favourites.
Technical details
The table lamp produces direct and diffuse light with an opal-blown Murano glass diffuser. It is available in three sizes in our shop:
