Icon: Atollo nickel table lamp from Oluce
The Atollo table lamp, designed by Vico Magistretti in 1977, completely changed the image of the classic bedside lamp at the time and has become the epitome of the table lamp over the years.
With its geometric shapes - cylinder, cone and hemisphere - the lamp is not only decorative but also classically modern and is still considered an icon of Italian design today.
Atollo with a satin black nickel finish looks elegant and industrial at the same time and is available from us in three different sizes . Create a highlight in your living space with this table lamp. Or combine the large lamp with the small one to create a uniform lighting concept in the Milanese style!
Milan Design icon Vico Magistretti
Vico Magistretti was born in Milan in 1920. After graduating in architecture in 1945, he immediately joined his father Piergiulio's office. In the post-war period, he was actively involved in the reconstruction. He was a co-founder of MSA (Movement for Architectural Studies) and participated in projects for INA-Casa and QT8. As a supervisor of various sections, he was also part of the Milan Triennale exhibitions, where he won a gold medal in the 9th edition of 1951 and the Grand Prize (Granpremio) in the 10th edition.
Among his most important architectural works in Milan during this period are the Torre al Parco (1953-56) and the building Piazzale Aquilea (1962-64). This was followed by a series of villas, including the house Arosio in Arenzano (1958) and the Bassetti house in Azzate (1960). His more recent works include the Milan Faculty of Biology (1978-81) and the Tanimoto House in Tokyo (1985).
As a prolific designer, he won the "Compasso d'Oro" award in 1967 for the Artemide Eclisse lamp, in 1979 for the Oluce Atollo lamp and for the Cassina Maralunga sofa. He also produced designs for De Padova, Fritz Hansen, Campeggi, Fontana Arte, Fredericia and Kartell. From 1967 he was a member of the San Luca Academy and the Royal College of Art in London, where he was also a visiting professor.
