Simple geometry: aspa small by pulpo
Its surface may be small, but what it lacks space, the aspa small side table makes up for with its fascinating presence. It also comes up with a mixture of transparency and reflections. The simple interplay of smooth glass panels backed with wavy chapel glass creates a multi-layered companion full of depth and character here.
Long straight panels of smooth and wavy glass converge in the centre of the table. The lines that meet here add a dark touch to the coloured transparency of the glass table to create a multi-layered aesthetic. With the aspa small, you have a piece of furniture that becomes the focal point of any room and attracts every eye with its mix of visual effects and surface structures.
Chapel meets windmill: aspa table series
The aspa table series by the Spanish studio MUT Design focuses on clear lines and geometric shapes and at the same time enchants with exciting views and organic plays of light. Inspired by the Spanish word "aspa" (meaning "wing of the windmill"), each table combines five glass panels that converge in the centre. This creates a simple but fascinating centrepiece. The contrast of smooth glass surfaces and structured chapel glass creates visual highlights in any room and tempts you to take a closer look at the designer pieces.
Beauty, nature and craftsmanship
pulpo is a design editor for high-end products in the home sector – fascinated by the craft of the ceramic and glassblowing workshops and guided by the rough aesthetics of these unique pieces.
pulpo’s philosophy goes back to the idea of the “carte blanche”. The designers and artists develop their designs freely and experimentally. A variety of materials and a weakness for structures are clear strengths here.
The headquarters of pulpo is in Weil am Rhein, near the Swiss border. Consisting of the creative and sales department, warehouse and logistics, this is the think tank for their artists and designers. pulpo’s dealer network extends far beyond Weil am Rhein – from Iceland and Dubai to Australia.
Redefining everyday things
MUT is a design studio founded in 2010 by designer Alberto Sánchez and Eduardo Villalón and formed by a multidisciplinary team. Their inspiration comes from nature and the apparently prosaic objects making up the puzzle of their daily life, always true to the principles of emotional design. Experimenting with those everyday objects in order to redefine them is one of their bred-in-the-bone hallmarks.
Thanks to their independent personality, MUT have turned into a design icon. Their award-winning products are regularly featured in the pages of top leading magazines around the world and at the present time they are listed among the most popular and highly regarded designers of their generation. MUT collaborates with international companies, such as ex.t, Sancal, Gan, Preciosa ,Expormim, LZF, Peronda Group, Harmony, Coordone, Zaozuo, Plust Collection, Miras Editions, Missana, and Archiproducts.
