Beautiful to touch: alwa three big from pulpo
Glass is generally associated as a lightweight with sharp edges and smooth surfaces. But glass can also be different. Designer Sebastian Herkner proves this with alwa. The design appears with a solid look and at the same time flatters with soft contours. The raw, hot glass mass with natural bubbles characterises the structure, including the uneven, sensually tangible surface. You just want to touch it... and the table is also suitable for putting down.

Champions of imperfection. The alwa collection of coffee and side tables celebrates the beauty of every wave, bubble and swirl, capturing the movement of glass in a generous time capsule. Inspired by undulating water surfaces, the collection blends a robust form with a soft aesthetic.

pulpo is a design editeur for high-end home products - fascinated by the craftsmanship of ceramic and glassblowing workshops and guided by the raw aesthetics of these unique pieces.
pulpo's philosophy goes back to the idea of the "Carte Blanche". The designers and artists develop their designs freely and experimentally. A variety of materials and a penchant for structure are clear strengths here.
The pulpo headquarters are located in Weil am Rhein, close to the Swiss border. Consisting of a creative and sales department, warehouse and logistics, this is the think tank for the artists and designers. pulpo's dealer network extends far beyond Weil am Rhein, from Iceland to Dubai and Australia.
Poetic compositions, refined shapes and delicate surfaces
This is what the name Sebastian Herkner stands for. The designer founded his studio in Offenbach am Main in 2006 and creates furniture, lighting and textiles as well as rooms and installations - often in combination with contemporary techniques and traditional craftsmanship.
Without ignoring the importance of material and sensory beauty, the versatile designer pursues a strong conceptual approach: "I transport and interpret characteristics from different contexts of society and culture and translate them into new artefacts," says Sebastian Herkner.
The award-winning designer teaches at university, collaborates with trade fairs and museums and works for some of the most renowned design manufacturers of our time.
Material and format
The alwa three big side table, which rests on a simple sheet metal frame or optionally on thin metal legs, is available in the colours amber, smoky grey and transparent. It has a diameter of 56 cm and is 35 cm high.
Each piece is made of transparent or coloured cast and mouth-blown glass.
Note: Bubbles, streaks and other variations in size and colour are part of the production process and are not defects in design or production.
