The About A Chair AAC22 by Hay is probably the most famous creation by designer Hee Welling. The multi-talent convinces with its concise simplicity and the multitude of uses that the design chair allows. 

The intention of designer Hee Welling was to create a simple chair that fits into every living and working ambience. This has succeeded all along the line and so the AAC22 functions both as a design object and as a piece of utility furniture.

With its minimalist Scandinavian design, the clear colours and the material combination of wood and recycled plastic, Hee Welling has set standards. This is how the About A Chair AAC22 achieved deserved fame and feels at home in both private and public spaces.

About A Chair Collection

Conscious and simple - the chairs from the About A Chair Collection by Hay follow simple and plain lines so that they can be easily combined with other furnishing objects. They complement different styles excellently and can therefore also be used perfectly in the contract sector. Designer Hee Welling conceived the series with the aim of making the chairs usable in restaurants, canteens, in the office or at the dining table at home. Their simple appearance ensures a special multifunctionality and combinability.

The collection includes AAC in different variations - wooden and metal frames and non-upholstered and upholstered seat shells. Each individual variation is a testimony to a restrained elegance that discreetly enhances any room.

Designer Hee Welling

The Danish designer Hee Welling attended the University of Art and Design in Helsinki and graduated with a Master's degree in furniture design from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. in 2003, he founded his own studio in Copenhagen and has since designed furniture, interiors, lighting and industrial designs. Welling has received various awards, including the BoBedre Design Award (Denmark) and the Good Design Award (USA). His designs have been used in international institutions such as the Oslo Opera House, the Australian Parliament and Amazon's headquarters.

As the son of a carpenter, he has a great fascination for production techniques and materials. It is therefore not surprising that his credo is to develop technically sophisticated products that are nevertheless accessible to the masses.

Hay - contemporary furniture from Denmark

Founded in 2002, the Danish manufacturer Hay pursues the goal of creating furniture that meets the needs of modern life and is accessible to as large an audience as possible.

Inspired by the stable structures of architecture and the dynamic turns of fashion, Hay combines the values of both industries and creates durable and appealing quality products.

Material and format

The design chair is available in different versions. Its frame is made of soaped oak wood or oak wood with water-based lacquer. The 2.0 seat shell is made of 100% recycled household waste - available to order in the exciting new 2.0 colours!

The AAC22 is 59 cm wide, 52 cm deep, 79 cm high and has a seat height of 46 cm.  It can support up to 100 kg.
