The designer of About A Chair had a vision that motivated him: He wanted to develop a chair of concise simplicity. The ideas and impressions merged and the result was the About A Chair AAC12 - a work of art of simplicity.
The About A Chair was intended to function both as functional furniture and as a design object. The basic idea was that the AAC12 chair should cut a fine figure at the dining table, at the conference table, in the canteen as well as in the office or in your own four walls and fulfil its respective purpose. And it does so with flying colours. It is an all-round talent and can really be used anywhere.
About A Chair Collection
Deliberate and simple - the chairs from the About A Chair Collection by Hay follow simple and sleek lines so that they can be easily combined with other furnishings. They complement a wide variety of styles perfectly and are therefore also ideal for use in the contract sector. Designer Hee Welling conceived the series with the aim of making the chairs suitable for use in restaurants, canteens, in the office or at the dining table at home. Their simple appearance makes them particularly multifunctional and combinable.
The collection includes AAC in different variations - wooden and metal frames and non-upholstered and upholstered seat shells. Each individual variant is characterised by an understated elegance that discreetly enhances any room.
Designer Hee Welling
Danish designer Hee Welling attended the University of Art and Design in Helsinki and graduated with a master's degree in furniture design from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. he founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2003 and has been designing furniture, interiors, lighting and industrial designs ever since. Welling has received various awards, including the BoBedre Design Award (Denmark) and the Good Design Award (USA). His designs have been used in international institutions such as the Oslo Opera House, the Australian Parliament and the Amazon headquarters.
As the son of a carpenter, he has a great fascination for production techniques and materials. It is therefore not surprising that his credo is to develop technically sophisticated products that are nevertheless accessible to the masses.
Hay - contemporary furniture from Denmark
Founded in 2002, the Danish manufacturer Hay aims to create furniture that meets the needs of modern life and is accessible to the widest possible audience.
Inspired by the stable structures of architecture and the dynamic twists and turns of fashion, Hay combines the values of both industries to create durable and appealing quality products.
Material and format
The design chair is available in different versions that you can choose yourself. The chair has a wooden frame and a seat made of solid-coloured polypropylene. The chair is 51 cm wide, 50.5 cm deep and 78.5 cm high. The seat height is 46 cm.
