Less is more: .03 Chair by Vitra

The .03 chair from Vitra is exceptionally simple and restrained. Its aesthetics lie in the particularly simple form of the designer chair. The curved shape of the seat shell, which does not end in an angular position but gently runs downwards into the frame, provides an additional optical twist.


When it comes to colour selection, the .03 chair is anything but simple: you can choose between seven different colours for the seat shell. Whether classic in grey or black or unusual in mint or mango - there is something for everyone.

Everything is comfortable

At first glance, the exceptionally high seating comfort of the designer chair is not noticeable, but thanks to the shell made of flexible polyurethane integral foam, the .03 adapts to the body. For added comfort, leaf springs have been incorporated into the backrest for comfortable reclining.

The design was created by Maarten Van Severen in 1987, who founded a furniture design workshop with limited semi-industrial production. From 1996 until his death in 2005, he worked with Vitra on a variety of designs. Among others the .03, which he designed in 1998 and which is one of his most famous designs.

Material and size

The chair is made of a polyurethane integral foam seat shell and a tubular steel frame. The backrest is flexible due to integrated leaf springs. The back legs of the chair are made of tubular steel and the front legs of powder-coated aluminium profile.

The .03 is available in a non-stackable and a stackable version. The stackable version can be stacked on the floor on up to 10 chairs and on the stacking trolley on up to 20 chairs.

The chair measures 79 cm high, 38 cm wide and 52.5 cm deep with a seat height of 42 cm.
