Tobias Grau
Light has the unique ability to create and transform emotional spaces
Tobias Grau (born in Hamburg in 1957) studied business administration in Munich after graduating from high school. In 1983 he went to the Parson School of Design in New York and then gained practical experience in the development department of Knoll International in Pennsylvania.
In 1984 Tobias Grau starts working as a freelance designer in a loft in Hamburg with interior design work for advertising agencies and fashion shops. At the same time, he developed his first collection of lamps, presented under his own name in 1987, which has since been developed into a high-quality brand of lamps together with his wife Franziska Grau. The design and development of new lamps and lighting systems are the focus of his work.
Tobias Grau's lamp creations are designed and produced at the manufacturer's headquarters in Hamburg. The design philosophy is based on a holistic approach - so the luminaires are always a combination of innovation and aesthetics.
