Karim Rashid
Karim Rashid born in Cairo in 1960 grew up in England and Canada. In 1982 he completed his studies as an industrial designer and worked
until 1984 in the studio of Rodolfo Bonetto in Milano.
1993 Rashid opened his onw studio in New York. During his career he created more than 2000 products.
His first big hit as a designer Rashid had in 1996 with the drop shaped waste basket „Garbo“ (for Umbra) which sold millionfiold. It displayes
- also in the spectacular lights „Blob“ (for Foscarini) and the table light „Time & Space“ (for Artemide) as well - Rashids typical amorphe
design language the „Blobism“.
Rashid also had great success with a translucent chess game.
Further famous designs Rashid created for Giorgio Armani, Danese, Leonardo, Magis, Prada, Shiseido and Sony.
