Felix Stark
The designer Felix Stark was born in Bonn in 1976. After completing his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker in 2002 he decided to as an industrial designer. In 2004 Felix Stark founded his own office for industrial design with the name Formstark in Cologne, where he lives and works. Felix Stark is also active as a lecturer at various academies.
The great strength of Felix Stark are functional and purist design solutions. The famous phrase "form follows function" by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is always the general approach of his work. Despite his training as a carpenter, wood is not the main theme for the successful designer - Felix Stark likes to use plastic or metal for his creations. Using modern manufacturing processes, he transforms these materials into sometimes quite daring, but always stable furniture, lighting and home accessories. His credo is that the complexity of people and their perception requires simple design. For him the form is logical at best - and looks quite natural.
For Müller Möbelwerkstätten Felix Stark created amongst others the bureau Plane, which impresses with its stark elegance. The design brings the classical bureau into modern times; thanks to its alignment this design furniture by Felix Stark is both timeless and modern.
His passion for new forms and innovative solutions, which he is able to achieve through a different kind of approach, Felix Stark has received not only recognition in the design world, but also some awards. Amongst others he was awarded the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. Moreover Felix Stark could be pleased about the Federal prize "Die gute Form."
