Alberto Meda
The combination of comfort and technology
The Italian designer Alberto Meda was born in Lenno Tremezzina in 1945. After studying mechanical engineering in Milan, Meda worked as technical director at Kartell from 1973 to 1979. There Alberto Meda was responsible for furniture production and plastics technology.
The year 1979 marks the beginning of his freelance work as product and planning engineer. From 1981 to 1985 Alberto Meda worked for Alfa Romeo. From 1983 to 1987 Alberto Meda taught industrial technology at the Domus Academy in Milan and industrial design at the Politecnico in Milan from 1995 to 1997.
In the design of his products, Alberto Meda attaches great importance to the development of new technological material possibilities. He has designed lamps, furniture and everyday objects for Luceplan, Vitra, Alias, Alessi, Mandarina Duck, Kartell, Philips and others. Alberto Meda made a name for himself with his designs for the Dry and X-Light tables (Alias), the Misura ST office system (Unifor) and the Meda Chair (Vitra).
